The Martesana Oasis is a 30-hectare natural area located between Pozzuolo Martesana and Melzo. Originally a sand and gravel quarry used for the construction of the TEEM motorway, the area later underwent recovery interventions and a partial environmental regeneration of the wetlands, in particular. Today, the Oasis hosts a variety of plant and animal species, including protected, valuable ones.

The quarry has sloping banks and, in its central part, the water exceeds 25 meters in depth. This conformation has favoured submerged vegetation and attracted a lot of bird species that use the site for feeding, nesting, and resting.

The surrounding wetlands host rare plants, as well as amphibians and dragonflies.

The reclaimed land, planted with native trees and shrubs supports an impressive number of pollinators such as butterflies, hymenoptera, and hoverflies-evidence of the remarkable biodiversity that has flourished here over time.
